ABOUT US

Costa Sur Pepper originated in Southern California by Peter and Merrie Bessell, who enjoy everything hot and spicy when it comes to food. Both Bessell’s grew up in the coastal communities of San Diego, where the vibe is so interwoven with the culture and cuisine of its neighboring country to the south-Mexico. It was not hard to get hooked on hot and spicy food early on. Fast forward, with the love for spicy everything and chili peppers, Costa Sur Pepper was born!

WHO
WE ARE

With the stay-at-home orders for the 2020 Pandemic, many months were spent blending and grinding different combinations of dried chili peppers. Alas, the three blends of Costa Sur arrived- Spicy Hot Blend, Sweet Hot Blend, and Smoky Hot Blend.  Each of these is a unique blend of dried chili peppers, ground to the perfect texture. Texture being important, as it allows the pepper to go “In” and “On” just about everything. Use it as a rub or use it as a flavor enhancer. Either way it works perfectly!

WHAT MAKES COSTA SUR PEPPER

UNIQUE?

Try Costa Sur on salads, meats, poultry, fish, eggs, veggies, pizza, pasta, stir fry, soup, just to mention a few. It really goes well ON and IN just about everything!

The name “Costa Sur” the Spanish word for South Coast and the logo with the pepper sitting on the beach are reflective of Peter and Merrie’s experiences growing up on the beaches of San Diego (SOCAL)!

While most hot salsas and hot sauces drown out the flavor of the food, Costa Sur Peppers are subtle and enhance the rich flavor of the food. Also, unlike most hot salsas and hot sauces, Costa Sur does not add any salt, sugar, or additives. Just ground chili peppers. That’s it.
